We have different types of Individual memberships availible depending on your circumstances, whether you are already working as a Professional Stage Manager, or whether you have a keen interest in Stage Management as a regular theatre goer or on an amateur basis or are studying to be a Stage Manager . Anyone with an interest in Stage Management in full time education whether it is a Theatre related course or not can be a Member. You may be a student overseeing student productions, enjoying the buzz of behind the scenes of a performance and need some valuable insights.
If you are studying at a University, College, or Drama School on a course approved by the SMA, then you can apply to be be a Graduate Member within 12 months of your graduation.
If you have worked in Stage Management and are now retired and would like to kept informed then being a Retired member would be just ideal.
As soon as possible after we receive an application and the related payment to join us we will provide you with access to the Members Only area of the website . Please feel free to ask any questions by contacting the SMA office.

Membership can be completed entirely online, by email or by post.
For Professional and Graduate members applications an up to copy of your CV will need to be emailed in addition to an applicaiton completed online- Thank you.

Membership process and approval
When a membership application (and up to date CV for a Professional or Graduate) and payment are received a confirmation email will be sent with the Website Log in to the Members' Only Area along with a receipt.
Professional Members need to provide the contact name and email of 2 referees who we will contact for details of stage Management work ; Graduate Member applications will be required provide details of your place of study and we will contact your tutor.
Applications for all individual membership, including applications to re-join by former members and changes from one type of membership to another, are subject to approval by the SMA Board of Directors before your membership can be completed.
Details of new members, upgrades and rejoiners applications are submitted to the SMA Board once a month on or around the 29th, as a formality the Board has 5 days to respond . Therefore the majority of applications are completed in the first week of the following month when a confirmation email is sent.
